- 5,000+Location keywords on page one of Google
The client
Busy Bees is the UK’s largest childcare nursery provider, with more than 344 nurseries across the UK and worldwide.
The challenge
Busy Bees found us by searching for an SEO agency. At the time:
- their website had low traffic
- rankings for their primary keywords were poor
- Google had identified much of the site as web spam, which was damaging the brand
- they were missing out on business because the website was underperforming
Their goal was simple: “to be the number one childcare provider on the internet”.
What we did
Discovery and review
We started by understanding the business model, the market and the commercial objectives, then reviewed the site with specialist SEO tools to see it the way Google does and establish where it ranked.
Technical fixes
The site looked the part, but behind the scenes it had numerous technical issues limiting how Google evaluated and ranked it. We fixed them without changing how the site looked to visitors.
Priority keywords and new pages
We expanded Busy Bees’ keyword list with the terms parents were actually searching for, prioritised those with realistic competition and enough demand, and worked with their team to write location pages built around them, each with a clear next step.
Telling Google
Finally, we made sure Google found and indexed the new and improved pages.
The results
- Organic traffic in the UK up by more than 20% over the year, to over 750,000 visits
- Significantly higher enquiry rates in key locations including Milton Keynes, Oxford, Coventry and Plymouth
- First-page Google rankings for more than 5,000 primary location keywords
- Overall bounce rate down by more than 10%
In their words
We implemented some of the techniques that OMS suggested and saw an increase in organic keyword rankings in primary locations within as little as six weeks. The ongoing work that OMS is doing has enabled us to penetrate new locations and increase enquiries at key target sites. If you are looking for a straight talking team of experts to advise you on any element of digital marketing I would strongly recommend OMS.
