GA4 and Google Tag Manager

Tracking you can actually trust.

We set up and audit GA4 and Google Tag Manager so you can see which channels bring in enquiries and sales, with Consent Mode v2 configured properly so tracking respects UK privacy law.

GA4 and Google Tag Manager

Decisions are only as good as the data

It is common to find GA4 properties counting the wrong things: duplicate conversions, missing form submissions, internal visits or tags firing before anyone has given consent. The result is reports nobody trusts and budget decisions made on guesswork.

We plan what should be measured, build it cleanly in Google Tag Manager, configure Consent Mode v2 with your cookie banner and connect GA4 to Google Ads and Search Console. Then we document it, so your tracking does not fall apart the next time someone edits the website.

Who it’s for

  • Websites where tags may fire before cookie consent is given
  • Teams with a messy Tag Manager container nobody wants to touch

A review of your GA4 property, Tag Manager container and consent setup, showing what is broken, missing or double counted.

  • Tag Manager build

Clean, documented tags, triggers and variables for enquiries, clicks, calls and ecommerce events.

  • Consent Mode v2

Integrating your consent platform so advertising tags wait for consent, and Google tags adjust to each visitor's choice.

What is Consent Mode v2 and do we need it?

Consent Mode v2 passes each visitor's cookie choices to Google tags, which then adjust how they collect data. Google requires it for advertisers using its ad platforms with UK and EEA users who want to keep using audience and remarketing features. It works alongside a proper consent banner, not instead of one.

Does Consent Mode make our tracking compliant?

Not on its own. It passes choices on; it does not collect consent. Under PECR, as amended in 2025, some analytics cookies can be set with clear notice and an easy opt-out, but advertising and tracking cookies still need prior consent. Your banner must make rejecting as easy as accepting, with nothing pre-ticked.

Why do Google Ads and GA4 show different numbers?

They count differently, with different attribution models, time windows and consent effects. Some difference is normal. Large gaps usually point to duplicate tags, missing conversions or misconfigured imports. We find the cause and explain which figures to rely on for which decisions.

Can you fix our existing Tag Manager container?

Yes. We audit what is there, remove duplicate or broken tags, rename things so they make sense and rebuild where needed. Changes are tested before publishing, and previous versions are kept so anything can be rolled back.

Who owns the GA4 and Tag Manager accounts?

You do. We work inside accounts owned by your business, with access granted to us, so your data and setup stay with you whoever manages them in future.
